earthquake.jpgA 4.6-magnitude earthquake struck about 65 miles south of San Jose early this morning in Pinnacles, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The quake rattled an area 4 miles from Pinnacles at 12:18 a.m., said the USGS.

The quake had a depth of 4.7 miles.

A series of aftershocks have been recorded near Pinnacles including 3.6- and 3.3-magnitude temblors at 12:21 a.m. and 1:19 a.m., respectively, according to the USGS.

Pinnacles is near the Monterey-San Benito County border.
