About 150 children with chronic illnesses from three countries are arriving in San Francisco on Tuesday for a weeklong vacation.

A team of volunteer doctors, paramedics, nurses and counselors will lead the medically supervised trip. They will arrive at San Francisco International Airport at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

A crew from the San Francisco Fire Department will greet the children, who are arriving from 12 U.S. states, Canada and Israel, with a water cannon salute.

The Kids of Courage team will visit Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, Raging Waters water park and Alcatraz. The kids also will get to watch an Oakland A’s game and see the Ringling Brothers Circus.

Kids of Courage is a volunteer-based organization dedicated to improving the lives of young people with serious medical diagnoses.
