gavel.jpgSF’s Neighborhood Court Program is expanding! If you live in the Western Addition, Hayes Valley, Polk Gulch, Civic Center, the Marina, or Japantown, come September the Neighborhood Court Program will be in your neighborhood.

The Neighborhood Courts Program hears cases police deem suitable to be overseen by adjudicators from the community. When persons cited for misdemeanors and infractions agree to participate in Neighborhood Courts, their citations are discharged.

At tonight’s community meeting, SF DA George Gasc√≥n and “other special guests” will tell attendees “about the new model, how it will improve San Francisco’s neighborhoods, and how the restorative justice process works.” You can even learn how to work for them, as a neighborhood court adjudicator (sorry, it’s only a volunteer position).

What: A Community Meeting to discuss the expanded Neighborhood Court Program
When: Thursday, August 18, from 6pm-8pm
Where: The JCCCNC: 1840 Sutter St.
Cost: Free and informative
