policeblotter_sfa.jpgSan Francisco police and the medical examiner’s office are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in a U-Haul van in the city’s Richmond District on Tuesday afternoon, a police spokesman said today.

Police responded at 12:16 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a man found in a van in the 5200 block of Geary Boulevard between 16th and 17th avenues, police spokesman Sgt. Mike Andraychak said.

The discovery was made by a tow truck driver who had been called by U-Haul to retrieve the van. The driver opened the van’s rear door and found the man inside, Andraychak said.

Police and fire officials responded and pronounced the man dead.

He has yet to be identified by the medical examiner’s office.

The death was not considered suspicious as of this afternoon, since authorities were still awaiting the results of an autopsy by the medical examiner’s office, Andraychak said.
