policeblotter_sfa.jpgCalifornia Highway Patrol officers and San Francisco police are looking for a man who apparently fled the scene of an injury crash on northbound Interstate Highway 280 this morning, a CHP officer said.

The crash was reported at 9:24 a.m. on northbound Highway 280 just south of San Jose Avenue and involved at least two cars, one of which rolled several times, CHP Officer Peter Van Eckhardt said.

Witnesses reported that the driver of one of the cars ran from the scene of the crash toward city streets, and may have been picked up by a passing motorist, Van Eckhardt said.

The driver who fled remains on the loose. He is described as a black man about 20 years old with short hair, dressed in blue jeans and a red-and-blue jacket, according to Van Eckhardt.

A woman who was in one of the cars involved in the crash complained of pain and was transported to San Francisco General Hospital, he said.

The crash blocked all but one lane of the highway for more than half an hour. All lanes were reopened shortly after 10 a.m., Van Eckhardt said.
