Two men were arrested last week on suspicion of shooting a teen in the head in San Francisco’s Visitacion Valley neighborhood in June, police said today.
The shooting was reported at about 4:10 a.m. on June 18, and occurred near the back door of a home in the 1900 block of Sunnydale Avenue where the victim, an 18-year-old man, was standing, according to police.
The victim was shot in the head and the path of the bullet left him blind in one eye, but he is expected to survive, police said.
Based on evidence recovered at the scene, including the firearm believed to be used in the shooting, police identified Matthew Lather, 20, as a suspect and a search warrant was obtained for his home.
On Wednesday, police served the warrant and arrested Lather, and additional evidence obtained at that time led investigators to get an arrest warrant for a second suspect, 21-year-old Vincent Harris, police said.
Police spokesman Sgt. Mike Andraychak declined to specify what evidence led investigators to Harris, who was arrested in Hayward on Friday.
The arrest came about an hour after a Hayward police officer saw a bulletin sent out by San Francisco police with information in it about Harris, who the officer was familiar with and arrested as he was boarding a bus to leave the area.
Lather and Harris were both booked into jail on suspicion of attempted murder.
