giants_db017.jpgJury duty evaders take note: whatever your flimsy excuse is, it will never be as cool as Mayor Ed Lee’s. As the Chron reports, though the mayor was called to jury duty this week, he’s taking a trip to New York to visit his two daughters instead. Oh, and then he’s meeting the president with our World Champion Giants.

Lee meets with the president today at the White House for the Giants’ Rose Garden reception. In addition to honoring the Giants for their win, the president will also recognize the team’s service to the community, according to the White House.

The team was originally slated to meet Obama in April, reports ABC7, but the president had to bail on them since “was busy finalizing plans for a strike on Osama bin Laden.” These elected officials and their excuses!

According to a spokesperson for former SF mayor, now Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom, the Marin man will be joining the team and the mayor at the White House event, which ABC7 will be livestreaming at 1 PM PT today.
