a_soccer_ball.pngTickets went on sale today for a soccer match at San Francisco’s AT&T Park next month between two of the top international club teams.

Manchester City from the English Premier League and Club America from the Primera Division in Mexico will face off at 5 p.m. on July 16 as part of the Herbalife World Football Challenge, a friendly tournament being held around the U.S. and in Vancouver, B.C.

The match at AT&T Park will be the first since March 2005, according to Jens Weiden, marketing manager for the ballpark.

Tickets are being sold exclusively through AT&T Park at www.tickets.com and range from $40 to $225.

Other teams participating in the tournament include international clubs FC Barcelona, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Chivas Guadalajara, and U.S. club teams such as the L.A. Galaxy, New England Revolution, Vancouver Whitecaps and Chicago Fire.

The ballpark’s usual tenants, the World Series champion San Francisco Giants, will be out of town that weekend in July, so grass will be put in over the infield, and the soccer field will run from the first base line out toward the left field wall, Weiden said.
