pill.jpgGet ready for another roller-coaster ride, Castro residents. As the Chron reports, drugstore chain CVS is rumored to be eyeing the first floor of the long-abandoned Tower Records building at Noe and Market St.

After two years of drama as to whether or not Trader Joe’s would move into the empty building, it was announced in March that they’d killed the deal, saying that the location at 2280 Market didn’t fit their business model. And yet, Facebook continues to have a Trader Joe’s Castro Fan Club. Those poor fans.

Supervisor Scott Weiner, who was the bearer of the bad Trader Joe’s news, continues to rep residents of the Castro and says CVS has been meeting with neighborhood groups, although the drug store chain refuses to “comment on any proposed site unless there was a signed agreement,” a CVS spokesperson told the Chron’s Andrew S. Ross. Given the ups and downs with Trader Joe’s, that’s probably understandable.

According to their website, CVS currently has two SF locations: one at 731 Market and one at 2025 Van Ness. The next-nearest pharmacy to that location is the Yelp-four-starred Walgreens at Castro and 17th.
