A woman who told police she was kidnapped from Louisiana and driven across the country was found near San Francisco’s Levi’s Plaza near the city’s northern waterfront on Sunday evening, police said today.
The 51-year-old woman was found disoriented and suffering from amnesia at about 7 p.m. Sunday near Filbert and Battery streets, police said.
The victim was dumped out of a car and a nearby security guard called police.
She told authorities she had been kidnapped from a laundromat in Monroe, La., on Wednesday and driven across the country to San Francisco, according to police.
The suspect, described as a white man in his 40s or 50s, fled in a 2007 black Ford Fusion with Louisiana license plate No. PPJ393. He had not been found as of this morning, police said.
The woman was taken to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment.
