An SFMTA Parking Control Supervisor has, ABC7 reports, his coworkers fearing for their personal safety. They’ve complained, they say, to no avail — and now he’s being defended at taxpayers’ expense.

In the ABC report, Dan Noyes details a laundry list of complaints against the SFMTA”s own Elias Georgopoulos, who’s reportedly left a trail of “restraining orders, lawsuits and allegations of assaults, sexual harassment, ticket fixing and pepper spraying drivers” in his wake.

It’s pretty shocking: in one case, a tow truck driver who was allegedly assaulted by Georgopolous is suing him and the city, after he says Georgopolous attacked him, breaking his wrist while in the police tow lot in February 2008.

Three months later, a limo driver was allegedly pepper sprayed and punched by Georgopolous in a Taco Bell parking lot after the driver had called police complaining of Georgopolous’ road rage.

Coworker Marcus Tjon has been threatened by Georgopolous because he allegedly wouldn’t void a citation against a friend of Georgoplous’. In yet another case, Georgopolous and his wife were allegedly illegally using disabled parking placards.

In still another, a coworker, Bertha Lathrop, says she has been sexually harassed by Georgopolous. (There are a lot more allegations against Georgopolous in the video above, it’s pretty staggering.) All these people say they have made SFMTA management aware of these issues.

So why does he still have a job? We don’t know, either. If you’re not frustrated enough yet, consider this: Georgopolous is being defended against all these charges by, says ABC7, the San Francisco City Attorney’s office.
