Pilots on American Airlines flight 431 told Las Vegas airport personnel they needed to make an emergency landing after spotting smoke on the plane just after 11 a.m., airport spokesman Chris Jones said.

The Boeing 757 landed safely at about 11:20 a.m., and no injuries were reported from the 167 passengers on board or flight staff, according to Clark County spokeswoman Jennifer Knight.

No one could comment on where the smoke came from, but Knight said the problem remained in the cockpit and didn’t impact the rest of the plane.

An American Airlines spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.
