AllisonBayliss05.23.11.JPG1:32 PM: The search is continuing this afternoon for a missing Danville teenager whose bike was found near the Golden Gate Bridge this morning, a National Park Service spokesman said.

An intensive search for Allison ‘Alliy’ Bayliss, 15, has been under way since 4:45 a.m. when her family told authorities they had found her bike in the Battery East parking lot, east of the bridge on the San Francisco side, National Park Service spokesman Howard Levitt said.

Allison was last seen Monday at 8 a.m. in front of San Ramon Valley High School riding her bike, Danville police said.

Many friends, family members and volunteers from Danville have joined searchers from a number of agencies including U.S. Park Police, San Francisco police, park service rangers and Golden Gate Bridge district patrol officers, Levitt said.

The search is being expanded to include Ocean Beach and Land’s End in San Francisco, as well as the Marin Headlands, he said.

“We are hopeful we will find her safe and sound. There is no time frame on how long search will go on,” Levitt said.

A Facebook event page, “Find Alliy Bayliss,” has been created with more than 8,500 people “attending” the search. One posting on the event’s wall includes a missing-persons flier. The flier says Allison left a suicide note at her home.

A vigil is planned for Allison at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Danville Congregational Church at 989 San Ramon Valley Blvd. in Danville, church office manager Lynda Manstrom said.

Some of the congregation’s youth group members are friends with Allison and are concerned about her, Manstrom said.

Allison is described as white with blond hair, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 130 pounds. She was last seen wearing a red zippered hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately.
