rollerskate.JPGChildren of the seventies or not, we’ve all harbored that urge to don a pair of ultra-flaired jeans (or white pants), a headband, and roller skates and head to the roller disco. The teased hair, rainbow socks, fedoras, and funkadelic music… Whether you’re willing to say it out loud or not, no one can watch old John Travolta movies and not wish they could sport those tight pants and skate backwards to the tune of “Stayin’ Alive.”

Well, here’s your chance.

The Black Rock Roller Disco presents “It’s a Fur Party” at CELLspace. Attendees are urged to sport their “fantastic, furry fashions from the playa” (fake, we hope) and strap on those skates to help raise funds for a brand new roller disco floor for Burning Man 2011.

$10 buys you admission into the event, $5 for skate rental (they have blades too, for the less retro-inclined). Join D. Miles, San Francisco’s “GodFather of Skating” and the Black Rock Rollers on Friday, May 20th at the CellSpace, any time after 8pm. All participants must be at least 21, and you know what that means… The bar will be open all night (but you’re responsible for alcohol-related crashes, so please, be wary of RUI’s).

Well, what are you waiting for? There’s only one day left to practice your moves. So grab that afro-pick and hop on the soul train.
