pg&e_blackout(2).jpgMore than 3,000 residents are without power in parts of San Francisco and Brisbane after an outage knocked out power to more than 9,000 PG&E customers this afternoon, according to utility officials.

The outage that began around 2:20 p.m. affected customers in most of San Francisco’s Excelsior District and in a small portion of Brisbane, PG&E spokesman Joe Molica said.

The outage appears to have started at a Daly City substation, but the cause is still under investigation, Molica said.

Just before 3:30 p.m., power was restored to 3,000 customers, and about 3,050 more customers had their power restored by 5 p.m.

Molica said crews are “working as quickly and safely as we can” to restore power to the last 3,100 customers without power by 6:30 p.m.
