bart_generic.jpg According to press releases sent by both BART and the Golden State Warriors basketball team, guard Stephen Curry and forward Ekpe Udoh will be “encouraging Bay Area residents to continue using public transit by surprising BART riders with free BART tickets this afternoon.”

The players, they say, will board a San Francisco-bound BART train at the Rockridge station in Oakland just before 1:50 p.m., handing out tickets and talk to riders about going “green” by continuing to use public transportation all the while.

They expect to disembark at Embarcadero station, where the giveaways of what releases sent by the Warriors say will be $10-$50 BART tickets will continue. Warriors game tickets, the release said, will also be given away.

None of the releases, however, mentioned how frequently our green evangelists, themselves utilize public transportation. Do either Curry or Udoh take BART, Oakland’s AC Transit, or other local agencies to get around the Bay Area?

Warriors spokesperson Dan Martinez fielded my questions good-naturedly and said that while he didn’t know now, he’d find out. I am very excited about updating with his response!

Until then, if you happen to see the ballplayers on BART or at the station, hey, they’re there to talk to you about riding transit, how about you ask them and tell us what they say?
