Slain German tourist’s family to meet with San Francisco DA George Gascon
The husband of Mechthild Schröer, the German tourist killed by a stray bullet in Union Square last year, “believes that lack of a murder weapon has stymied investigators,” but will be meeting with DA Gascon today to discuss why, even though SFPD passed the case against the suspects to the district attorney about a month ago, no charges have been filed.

Lower Haight business gets belligerent with employee
A 25-year-old San Francisco man reportedly sleeping in the doorway of a business near Waller and Steiner was arrested after attempting to force his way into the business and making felony threats against the business’ employee.

San Francisco shooting called case of mistaken identity
On Monday night a man suffered life threatening injuries after being shot while sitting on his porch. Police are now saying that the shooting was a mistake, and that “gang members shot a man they mistook for a rival.”

Man scuffles with home invader
A sleeping 58-year-old man was startled awake by shattering glass at 11:30 Monday night. He confronted the intruder, who fled

Women punched, assaulted
Ladies, be careful! At 2 AM Tuesday, an 18-year-old woman was assaulted in an attempt to steal her phone at Haight and Masonic. Then at around 8:30 Tuesday night, a 33-year-old woman had her purse stolen near Schwerin and Sunnydale. At 9:30, a 36-year-old woman was punched and had her purse and phone stolen near Brussels and Bacon. The suspects in all of these cases remain at large.

Victim frozen stiff by ice scraper-wielding bandit
This morning at 3 AM, a 44-year-old man was mugged at Polk and Geary by a man who reportedly threatened him with an ice scraper to his throat. Police say his wallet and cellphone were taken. No arrests have been made.
