Caltrain’s board of directors today postponed voting on a set of proposed service cuts and fare hikes intended to save the agency from financial disaster.
The Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board voted unanimously this afternoon at its meeting in San Carlos to put off the vote on the money-saving measures for two weeks.
Bay Area residents packed the board’s meeting room and an overflow room to voice their opinions on the proposed changes, which include the suspension of service at the Capitol, Hayward Park and Bayshore stations.
Speakers at the meeting overwhelmingly opposed the service cuts.
Other proposed changes include increasing Caltrain’s base fare by 25 cents.
