The woman was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with serious injuries sustained in the shooting that occurred at 1593 Thomas Ave. at about 3:50 p.m., a San Francisco fire dispatcher said.

Police spokesman Officer Eric Chiang said that the nature of the woman’s injuries was unclear but that she may have been shot in the face.

It was the second shooting in San Francisco today. Three hours earlier, a man was injured when he was shot in the Mission District in the 2800 block of Harrison Street.

That victim traveled by car to San Francisco General Hospital, and police said he is expected to survive.
