police-light-bar1.jpgA pedestrian walking in a crosswalk near AT&T Park suffered serious injuries after being hit by a construction vehicle Friday morning, a San Francisco Fire Department spokesperson said.

After an Appeal reader IMed to ask us why SFFD had 2nd and Townsend was blocked off this morning, SFFD spokesperson Lt. Mindy Talmadge confirmed to the Appeal that the firefighters were responding to the report of a woman struck by a “big construction vehicle with a crane.”

The pedestrian, Talmadge says, was walking in the crosswalk when she was reportedly struck by a a Sheedy Drayage company vehicle as the driver was turning onto 2nd Street from Townsend.

The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with injuries Talmadge described at “life threatening.”
