police-light-bar1.jpg4:30 PM: An elderly woman suffered life-threatening injuries when she was struck by a vehicle in San Francisco’s Richmond District this afternoon, a police spokesman said.

The woman was hit at about 2:25 p.m. near the intersection of Park Presidio Boulevard and Anza Street, San Francisco police Officer Eric Chiang said. (A fire spokeswoman said the accident happened at Geary and Park Presidio boulevards. Police have since clarified that it occurred a block away, at Anza Street.)

She was taken to a hospital with injuries that are believed to be life-threatening, Chiang said.

A witness told police the woman appeared to be walking in the crosswalk across Park Presidio Boulevard when she was struck by a car turning from Anza Street onto Park Presidio, Chiang said.

The driver, a 92-year-old man, stopped at the scene and is cooperating with police, Chiang said.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the woman stopped at the scene and is cooperating with police, Chiang said.

Talmadge said fire crews cleared the scene at 3:24 p.m.
