7:53 AM: A man in his mid-20s was fatally shot in San Francisco’s Mission District early this morning, a police spokesman said.

The shooting was reported at about 2:25 a.m. near the intersection of 17th and Mission streets, San Francisco police Sgt. Mike Andraychak said.

The victim, whose name is not yet being released, was taken to a hospital where he died at about 4 a.m., Andraychak said.

A black SUV-type vehicle was seen leaving the scene of the shooting, but no arrests have been made and no other suspect information was immediately available this morning, Andraychak said.

The Police Department’s gang task force is assisting homicide investigators with the case, he said.

3:11 AM: Police are responding to reports of a shooting in San Francisco’s Mission District this morning, according to a police dispatcher.

At about 2:25 a.m., officers were called to 17th and Mission streets on reports that a victim had been shot, the dispatcher said.

The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital, the dispatcher said.
The extent of the victim’s injuries remains unknown.

No further details were immediately available.

The shooting occurred just one block away from an earlier stabbing, which was reported just before 2 a.m.

It is unknown whether the two incidents are related, according to the dispatcher.
