wave.jpgSchedule changes to the Larkspur Ferry’s weekday afternoon schedule that were approved in November take effect today, the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District said Monday.

Afternoon departments are moved between five and 15 minutes, depending on the trip, district spokeswoman Mary Currie said.

Three trips are eliminated and several trips at the end of the day are consolidated, Currie said.

There are no changes to the Sausalito Ferry’s weekday afternoon schedule.

Customer concerns and improved operating efficiencies are reflected in the creation of a winter and summer season schedule, Currie said.

The winter season schedule runs October through March and is served by two high-speed vessels.

The 5:50 a.m. and 7:50 a.m. winter season departures from Larkspur remain in effect, Currie said.

The 11:40 a.m. Larkspur departure and the 12:25 p.m. San Francisco departure have been eliminated from the winter schedule.

The 8:10 p.m. departure from Larkspur was been consolidated with the 8:50 p.m. departure, and the 8:50 p.m. departure from San Francisco has been consolidated with the 9:35 p.m. departure.

The changes to the ferry schedule are part of the district’s effort to reduce a projected $89 million revenue shortfall over the next five years.
