police-light-bar1.jpgAll lanes of southbound U.S. Highway 101 just south of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco have been reopened following a solo vehicle crash early this morning that injured the car’s driver and passenger, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The crash just south of the toll plaza was reported at 12:40 a.m., and CHP Officer Ralph Caggiano said the circumstances surrounding the collision were unclear.

The driver and the passenger of the green 1995 Honda del Sol involved were transported to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash, CHP Officer Peter Van Eckhardt said.

The unidentified female driver was taken into custody at the hospital by the CHP, Van Eckhardt said, and an investigation of the crash is ongoing.

A Sig-alert had been issued at 12:51 a.m., with traffic diverted to state Highway 1 to allow emergency crews to access the roadway and clear the crash, Caggiano said. That alert was cancelled at 1:28 a.m., when all lanes reopened.
