bbridgetower.jpgThe fourth segment of the self-anchored suspension tower will be added to the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge on Monday.

Crews will hoist the newest section onto the bridge in an around-the-clock operation, beginning Monday morning, according to the Toll Bridge Program Oversight Committee.

The segment will boost the tower up to 480 feet, leaving the structure just 45 feet under its final 525-foot height, the committee said.

The committee will hold a news conference Monday at 10 a.m. at the public information office, located at 311 Burma Road in Oakland, to discuss the latest additions to the tower, the construction process and driver safety.
