shooting_nighttime.jpgSan Francisco police are investigating a frightening drive-by shooting in the Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood Thursday evening that left a 22-year-old woman’s car riddled with bullets.

Police spokesman Lt. Troy Dangerfield said the woman, a city resident, was driving north on Ingalls Street near George Court at about 6:50 p.m. when someone inside a gold sedan driving in the opposite direction opened fire.

Dangerfield said the woman heard gunshots and saw a muzzle flash, and later found four bullet holes in her car. She was not struck by the gunfire.

The gold sedan was later found unoccupied nearby, Dangerfield said. The occupant or occupants of the vehicle may have fled in another vehicle, he said.

No arrests have been made.

The incident is being investigated by the Police Department’s gang
task force, Dangerfield said.

Police are asking witnesses or anyone with information about the case to call the department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411.
