Police said Daniels, of El Cerrito, chased Terry Turner, also 29, into the cafe, cornered him inside a back room, and shot him several times in the abdomen and head. Turner, a San Francisco resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.
No customers were injured in the attack, police said.
Police said at the time that the suspect took a bag from Turner before fleeing, but a possible motive for the slaying has not been released.
Employees described the item as possibly a computer bag.
Daniels was arrested Friday afternoon at a private residence in San Francisco, police spokesman Sgt. Mike Andraychak said today.
He was booked that evening on charges of murder, being a felon in possession of a firearm and parole violation, Andraychak said.
Interviews, reviews of physical evidence, and tips from the community led to Daniels being identified as the suspect, according to police.
The back room where Turner was shot had windows that faced the street, police said.
