Authorities issued an Amber Alert tonight for a 4-year-old boy who was abducted from Stanislaus County, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Investigators originally thought Juliani Cardenas and his alleged captor, Jose Esteban Rodriguez, might be en route from Patterson to San Jose, but have since expanded their focus to include anywhere in California, Stanislaus County Chief Tori Hughes said.
The pair is believed to be in a silver Toyota Corolla with oversize aluminum wheels and California license plate No. 6HBW445.
Rodriguez is the ex-boyfriend of Juliani’s mother and is not the boy’s biological father, Hughes said. He has an extensive criminal record, including a conviction for manslaughter, and should be considered dangerous.
Juliani is described as a Hispanic boy, 3 feet 6 inches tall and 40 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
He was last seen wearing dark pants and a light blue shirt.
Rodriguez is described as a 27-year-old Hispanic man, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
He was last seen wearing a white and black shirt, checkered shorts, and a beanie.
Anyone with information about the pair is asked to call the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department at (209) 380-6015.
