pg&e_blackout(2).jpgAbout 365 homes and businesses in San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood lost power this morning when an underground power cable failed, a PG&E spokesman said.

Power was knocked out to PG&E customers in the area of the 500 block of Broadway at about 9:20 a.m., PG&E spokesman Joe Molica said.

The number of affected customers was reduced to 164 at 11 a.m., but crews are having difficulty restoring power because they can’t access a vault that’s been flooded with rainwater, Molica said.

Naked Lunch restaurant at 504 Broadway canceled its lunch service because of the outage, a restaurant employee said.

As of 1 p.m., there was no estimated time when the remaining customers would get their power back.
