An East Bay man accused of chasing another man into a coffee shop on San Francisco’s Polk Street last week then fatally shooting and robbing him is scheduled to be arraigned Friday on murder charges, prosecutors said today.

Jodie Daniels, 29, was arrested last Friday, a day after police said he chased Terry Turner past customers at Jebena Coffee and Tea Co. at 990 Polk St. at about 4:20 p.m., cornered him in a back room, and shot him multiple times.

The suspect fled after the shooting, police said.

Turner, also 29, of San Francisco, was shot in the head and abdomen and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said a bag was stolen from Turner. Employees described it as similar to a computer bag.

On Friday afternoon, Daniels was arrested at a home in San Francisco, police said.
Police have not discussed the possible motive for the killing.

Daniels, an El Cerrito resident, remains in custody on $2 million bail and will be arraigned in San Francisco Superior Court Friday morning on charges of murder, robbery and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, according to the district attorney’s office.

His initial arraignment on Wednesday was postponed.

Daniels has not yet been assigned an attorney from the public defender’s office.
