police-light-bar1.jpgAt least one person was killed in a two-vehicle collision on southbound U.S. Highway 101 in San Francisco tonight, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

A blue SUV apparently collided with a dark-colored sedan at about 7:50 p.m. just north of Beatty Avenue, Officer Scott Cakebread said.

At least one person was taken to San Francisco General Hospital and pronounced dead, he said.

It was unclear if other injuries were reported, and it was not yet known tonight if drugs or alcohol played a factor, Cakebread said.

The three right lanes were closed after the collision until about 9:30 p.m.
