A four-year manhunt for a suspected child rapist came to an end last week when authorities nabbed the suspect in the Philippines and shipped him back to the U.S., according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
David Wayne Greth, 39, arrived Saturday at San Francisco International Airport on a flight from the Philippines, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. He was escorted by FBI and Interpol agents and turned over to the San Francisco Police Department, which has jurisdiction over the airport, while awaiting extradition to Virginia.
Greth, who was featured on a 2006 episode of “America’s Most Wanted,” fled to the Philippines that same year after jumping bail on charges unrelated to the slew of sexual assault charges he faces.
Those charges include two counts of aggravated sexual battery, three counts of forcible sodomy, two counts of felony child abuse, two counts of indecent liberties with children, and one count each of rape and object penetration.
Greth’s arrest was the result of collaboration between the FBI and the Philippine National Bureau of Investigation, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
According to the TV show’s website, authorities in the Philippines learned that Greth had been working at an English language center under a fake name.
