Hello from the warm and balmy Richmond District,

Not only do the Giants bring us a world championship, but they brought back with them the last bits of our Indian summer. Woot! In case you haven’t had your fix of Giants-mania, don’t miss Michael Franti’s re-recording of “Say Hey (I Love You)”, Giants version.

The de Young Museum also realized how much Giants pitcher Brian Wilson looks like some of the great bearded Impressionists in their current exhibition.

We had some news on park improvements this week. The Polo Fields in Golden Gate Park will be closed until March 2011. They’re completely re-sodding the field and adding a new irrigation system. Athletes rejoice!

Lincoln Park also has something shiny and new. Now when you sit atop the century old steps at the end of California Street near 32nd Avenue, you can enjoy the view from a freshly poured and beautifully decorated bench, complete with tiles inspired by the Sutro Baths. It’s phase one in a plan to refurbish the stairs.

Plans for the remodel of the La Playa/Ocean Beach Safeway are heating up again. Neighbors will be treated to a 3D rendering of the latest plans in a public meeting later this month.

Have a great weekend everyone!
