caltrain.jpgGiants fans heading toward San Francisco for today’s Civic Celebration should expect delays, a Caltrain spokeswoman said this morning.

There will be standing room only on trains destined for the parade this morning due to heavy crowds, according to spokeswoman Christine Dunn.

The San Jose Diridon station has seen the largest crowds, with congestion beginning around 7 a.m.

“We have been inundated with travelers in San Jose,” Dunn said at about 8:40 a.m. “There are probably 1,000 people waiting on the platform.”

Dunn said that, in an attempt to move the crowds along, officials are encouraging people, both with tickets and without, to board the trains as they arrive.

Although extra trains will be running to help with platform congestion, riders should still expect delays, Dunn said.
