plane.pngAccording to the U.S. Department of Transportation, summertime American air travel been dropping for the last three years. But not so for San Francisco — the San Mateo County Times is reporting that summer travel in and out of SFO’s on the rise (heh).

SFO officials say they’re seeing a 4.1% increase over last year,11.2 million trips through the airport between June and August, typically the three busiest months of the year. That’s a 440,000 more arriving and departing passengers, they say.

Officials say that summer air travel’s been gaining steadily since 2006, with $1.7 million more passengers, or an 18% increase.
