gay_cityhall_gavel.jpgA federal appeals court announced today it will hear arguments on a challenge to Proposition 8, California’s ban on same-sex marriage, in San Francisco at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 6.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals had previously announced it would hear arguments the week of Dec. 6, but had not announced the exact date.

The names of the three circuit judges who will hear the case will be disclosed about 10 days before the hearing.

The sponsors of Proposition 8 are appealing a ruling in which U.S.

District Judge Vaughn Walker struck down the voter initiative in August.

The hearing will be held in the 9th Circuit’s courthouse at Seventh and Mission streets.

The panel is expected to take the case under submission and issue a written ruling at a later date.
