sfpd_squad.jpgPolice activity created a stir at a gas station on San Francisco’s 19th Avenue today before officers determined the call they were responding to had no merit.

A resident near 19th Avenue and Santiago Street called police shortly before 1 p.m. to report three people on a fire escape, two armed with guns, police Sgt. Michael Andraychak said.

Officers responded and detained three people at a Shell gas station at 19th Avenue and Taraval Street who matched the description the resident had given.

However, it turned out the people the caller had described were his neighbors and there was no merit to the call, Andraychak said.

The scene has since cleared, he said.
