sfpd_arrestcuffs.jpgA man was injured in a failed robbery attempt in Downtown San Francisco early Monday morning, San Francisco police said today.

The 25-year-old victim was entering a cab at 4:40 a.m. in the 1000 block of Mission Street when two men approached him, according to police.

One of the suspects brandished a chrome revolver, a non-firing replica, and demanded the victim’s cell phone. The victim refused. Both suspects proceeded to punch and kick the victim, police said.

The suspects were unable to take anything from the victim and fled on foot.

Police caught up with the suspects, who were arrested and charged with aggravated assault and attempted robbery, the Police Department said.

The victim’s injuries were not expected to be life threatening, and he was transported to San Francisco General Hospital.
