A woman is recovering today after being stabbed in the neck during a robbery late Wednesday in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill neighborhood, police said.

The 36-year-old woman was attacked just before midnight while walking in the 2200 block of 18th Street, according to police.

At the hospital, the woman told police a male suspect came up behind her and grabbed her purse, police spokesman Sgt. Troy Dangerfield said. The woman then felt something wet on her neck and realized she had been stabbed.

Dangerfield said the woman is expected to survive her wounds, which were originally considered life threatening.

No arrest has been made.

Investigators are looking into possible connections between this robbery and other recent street robberies in the city, Dangerfield said.
