An eighth person has died as a result of the San Bruno gas pipeline explosion and fire on Sept. 9, the San Mateo County coroner’s office confirmed today.
James Franco, 58, who lived on Glenview Drive, died Monday morning at 9:45 a.m., according to the coroner’s office.
He had been in critical condition after suffering burns in the fire and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, then later transferred to UCSF Medical Center where he died.
The coroner’s office is expected to perform an autopsy today.
