The Bay Area Air Quality Management District has issued its fourth consecutive Spare the Air Day for today in anticipation of high temperatures and unhealthy ozone layers.

Temperatures are expected to reach the 90s on the coast and triple digits inland, according to the National Weather Service.

Residents are advised to carpool or take public transportation, limit unnecessary trips and work from home if possible to minimize air pollution.

It will be the ninth Spare the Air Day this year. Last year, there were 14 alerts issued by the end of September.
