1:35 PM: The victim of an unsolved fatal shooting Friday evening in San Francisco’s Visitacion Valley neighborhood was identified by police today as 38-year-old Asa Roberts.

Police responding to a report of gunshots at about 8:20 p.m. found Roberts in the first block of Brookdale Avenue at the Sunnydale housing projects.

Roberts, a San Francisco resident, was pronounced dead at San Francisco General Hospital, police said.

Friday was Roberts’ 38th birthday, according to police.

Police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said no suspects have been arrested in the killing.

The shooting is San Francisco’s 35th homicide this year. At the same time last year, there had been 32.
