bikesharelede.jpgEver wonder why there are so many gosh-darned bike riders descending on Market St. (near Justin Hermann Plaza) tonight around 5:30? It’s the last Friday of the month (that flew by!) which means it’s Critical Mass! Due to the massive number of bicyclists, traffic downtown (and elsewhere, but no one’s sure where — it’s always a surprise!) will be impacted.

Muni riders should take underground routes where they can, and for those of you driving along in your gas-guzzling cars, be aware that you’ll be wasting even more energy during an event partially intended to make you feel bad about the energy you already waste. Of course, you can always hop on your bike and be part of the masses in an attempt to reduce that gaudy carbon footprint!

basically this means N riders are screwed because we all know that Muni runs like 500000 Ks Js and Ls and such but never enough Ns and it means if you’re relying on the N to get you home, you might as well stay downtown, enjoy a beer or a coffee or a tea or a lemonade downtown, and enjoy the weather while the streets are clogged…

Full disclosure: i do not own a car and I ride to work every single day rain or shine.

Quick question to the bike riders who will participate in CM tonight> Do you think creating traffic jams and having people sitting in their cars with them *idling* is a good way to reduce fuel consumption?

Also, does breaking traffic laws really further the standing of cyclists and help push a pro-bike agenda in SF?

Just something for the sheep to think about before they blindly follow others off a cliff.

PS> I am the dude that you see in the morning stopping at red lights and stop signs. I also use hand signals, have lights on my bike and yield to pedestrians. I wear a helmet, would never even think of wearing earphones while operating my bike and I also smile while I ride.
