Besides the JeJune Institute, what other Alternate Reality Games are going on in the city?

I won’t say too much about the JeJune Institute other than beware of false nonchalance (to find out what I’m talking about, go to 580 California St. Suite #1607) but San Francisco is the birthplace of ARGs (Alternate Reality Games) and there are usually a few going on in the city at any given time.

Right now, besides JeJune, there’s also SFZero (a “collaborative production game”), and two more Wanderer’s Union events later this month. One way to keep up to date is to search the San Francisco tag on ArgNet; their most recent SF game was a few months ago, but I’m sure something will be up there soon.

You can also check out this year’s IndieCade Finalist Games; JeJune is the only SF-based one on the list, but a bunch are playable (online) from anywhere in the country/world.

Think of “Ask the Appeal” as your own personal genie: no Bay-related question is too big or too small. Whether you’re concerned with a municipal question, a consumer advocacy issue or simply with consuming alcohol, email us your questions at ask@sfappeal.com (or, find answers to past questions here). We’ll either do the dirty work and talk to the folks in charge, contact an expert in the field, or – if your question is particularly intriguing or juicy – develop it into a full-blown investigative article.
