A cyclist was hospitalized after a collision with a car at Fell and Masonic last night. According to the Sargent Andraychak of the SFPD, the incident occurred at 6:22 when a blue Honda civic driving southbound hit a cyclist going eastbound on Fell.
Paramedics responded and transported the cyclist (whom an Appeal reader who witnessed the scene says was a man) to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The police report is not completed and will be available either later tonight or tomorrow. It is yet to be determined which party was at fault.
BikeNOPA speculates that the cyclist might have been struck while crossing the street on the Panhandle Park multi-use path.
The Fell and Masonic intersection is reportedly one of the most dangerous intersections for cyclists in the city. Efforts are being made by city planners and advocacy groups like Fix Masonic to make the area safer for cyclists. Updates on progress are available on Bike Nopa’s “A Better Masonic” series.
