8/15 11:53 AM: More than 40 people were displaced following a three-alarm fire Saturday in San Francisco’s Mission District, a San Francisco firefighter said.

The fire at 66 Rondel Place was reported at 6:08 p.m. when a witness saw smoke coming from the three-story house, said the firefighter, who declined to give his name. The third alarm was issued at 6:27 p.m. and the blaze was controlled by 6:50 p.m.

The fire caused damage to surrounding buildings at 64 and 72 Rondel Place and 571 and 577 Valencia St., the firefighter said.

About 110 firefighters responded to the scene. Three firefighters suffered minor injuries but no other injuries were reported.

The Red Cross was called to help 43 people who were displaced by the blaze, the firefighter said.

The fire remains under investigation.

8/14 9:35 PM: About 130 firefighters extinguished a three-alarm blaze tonight in San Francisco’s Mission District, a San Francisco firefighter said.

Firefighters arrived on scene at 6:10 p.m., minutes after a witness reported smoke coming out of a three-story house at Rondel Place and 16th Street, the firefighter said.

A neighboring home was “in peril” and was evacuated in case the blaze spread, but the fire was contained to the one house, the firefighter said. The fire was controlled at about 6:50 p.m.

Two firefighters sustained minor injuries from the fire and were taken to local hospitals, the firefighter said. No other injuries were reported.

The third alarm was issued at 6:27 p.m., the firefighter said. Firefighters were still at the scene tonight questioning people about the incident and its cause.
