17 stages. 227 actors. 130 shows. And it’s all free.

The San Francisco Theater Festival will be hosting its 7th annual show this Sunday, August 8th at the Yerba Buena Gardens from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This full day of theatrical extravaganza will include all types of performances — drama, comedy, one-acts, excerpts, Commedia Dell’arte, musicals, improv, Shakespeare, original works, children’s shows, and opera.

Featured this year is the performance of San Francisco’s musical hit, Beach Blanket Babylon and the stage adaption of the Big Lebowski. Other highlights include a showcase of scenes from the upcoming production of Hamlet on Alcatraz and snappy snippets from Jerry Springer, The Opera.

Now for shameless plug/disclosure: a play called “At A Loss for Words” written by yours truly will also be in the festival. Performed by YFAT, the play is a tale of love, adventure and camaraderie told entirely through stage directions.

But those are just to name a few. See the full list of performers and shows here or check out the program schedule to plan out your itinerary for the day.
