The voter-approved initiative was challenged in a lawsuit filed by two same-sex couples.

The ruling by U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker will be available on the court’s website through its electronic case filing system and in the court clerk’s offices in San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose.

The ruling will be issued sometime between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., a court spokeswoman said.
