Elsewhere: Bicyclist Killed in Hit and Run Collision at Masonic and Turk (Bike NOPA)

A bicyclist was struck and killed in a hit-and-run Friday night in San Francisco, according to police.

The bicyclist, a 21-year-old man, was riding southbound on Masonic Avenue near Turk Street at about 10:40 p.m., when a 1989 Mercedes-Benz also going southbound on Masonic struck and killed him, police spokesman Officer Samson Chan said today.

The car left the scene, but witnesses called police with a description of the vehicle and officers were able to locate it a short time later, Chan said.

The vehicle was parked about two blocks away on Tamalpais Terrace near Turk Street, he said.

The suspect, a 38-year-old man whose name was not immediately released, was arrested and booked for vehicular manslaughter, according to Chan.

The victim’s name is not yet being released, pending notification of his family, the medical examiner’s office said.
