Hi from the Richmond!

Food, glorious food… After news last week that Waffle Mania is coming to Golden Gate Park, we now hear that Sam’s Chowdermobile will be rolling into the neighborhood. Clam chowder, fish tacos, lobster rolls, pulled pork sandwiches – all tucked into a cute red truck. The Rec & Park coffers may be growing with these new initiatives but it means my summer waistline will be too. Oof.

Then again I could always balance my intake of fried calamari with fresh, organic vegetables. Yeah, you know where this is heading! An enterprising group of Richmond District residents is working to bring a Farmer’s Market to our foggy corner of the city. Just don’t tell the 6,431 produce markets that we have out here…

Last weekend Ocean Beach hosted 500+ people who lay down in protest to call attention to the gulf oil spill. I was in the “L” though I still can’t pick myself out from the helicopter photo. Gandhi was also there, plus some sea turtles and of course, professional sign-holder Frank Chu, who I was later told, refused to sit or lie down for the photos. Sigh.

In business news, it looks like we’ll finally have a tenant in the monstrous building at 32nd Avenue and Clement which used to be an Albertson’s. CVS Pharmacy is looking to move in there during the first half of 2011.

I’ll leave you with a video of Lifehouse performing at last Sunday’s Alice 97.3 Summerthing concert in Golden Gate Park (video by k9 Video Blog).

Happy 4th of July everyone!
